TimeMatrix supports Tropical and Sidereal views for Date Panels, SQ9, and Hexagon astro bodies in both Geocentric and Heliocentric modes. Heliocentric coverage includes Earth, Mercury through Pluto, and the supported minor bodies; the Sun, Moon, and lunar nodes use Geocentric mode. Sidereal rows use date-specific ayanamsa values applied to the tropical longitude in the selected observer frame. Within that frame, changing ayanamsa preserves the body motion state while recalculating the sign, degree, nakshatra, and pada.

There is no single scientifically mandated ayanamsa. Each option is a defined sidereal reference convention. Changing it changes the zodiac labels and degrees assigned to the same calculated body position; it does not move the body or change its physical motion state. Meaning

Fagan-Bradley is one of the main Western sidereal systems. It is often used by astrologers who want a sidereal zodiac while staying closer to Western interpretive language and house/planet workflows.

When To Use It

Use Fagan-Bradley when comparing Western tropical work against a Western sidereal frame.

Galactic Alignment / Mardyks

Galactic-axis research frame

Calculation mode: SIDM_GALALIGN_MARDYKS

Meaning

The Mardyks or Skydram mode uses the 1958 IAU galactic coordinate system and defines an alignment value of 30 degrees at the 1998 autumn equinox. It is an exploratory modern convention rather than an observational standard for the zodiac.

When To Use It

Use Galactic Alignment when comparing galactic-axis symbolism with TimeMatrix sidereal body positions.

Galactic Center

Galactic reference alignment

Calculation mode: SIDM_GALCENT_0SAG

Meaning

This specialized calculation mode places the Galactic Center at 0 degrees Sagittarius. It is a defined galactic reference convention, not the same system as Galactic Alignment / Mardyks.

When To Use It

Use Galactic Center when testing galactic alignment ideas against planetary, fixed-star, and cycle research.

Krishnamurti / KP

KP astrology reference

Calculation mode: SIDM_KRISHNAMURTI

Meaning

Krishnamurti / KP is used in KP astrology, where fine subdivision, timing, and star-lord style interpretation are central. It is close to Lahiri but not identical.

When To Use It

Use KP when working with Krishnamurti-style timing, subdivision, or star-lord research.

Lahiri / Chitrapaksha

Default sidereal standard

Calculation mode: SIDM_LAHIRI

Meaning

The official Lahiri implementation is widely used in modern Indian astrology and has been used for the Indian Astronomical Ephemeris since 1985. It belongs to the Chitrapaksha tradition, but it is not the same calculation as the separate True Chitra mode.

When To Use It

Use Lahiri when you want the mainstream Vedic-style sidereal reference for signs, degrees, nakshatras, and padas.

Pushya-Paksha

Pushya-centered sidereal reference

Calculation mode: SIDM_TRUE_PUSHYA

Meaning

Pushya-Paksha, implemented as True Pushya, keeps delta Cancri, also called Asellus Australis, at sidereal longitude 106 degrees.

When To Use It

Use Pushya-Paksha as a comparative sidereal framework, especially when testing sensitivity around exact degrees.

Raman

B. V. Raman sidereal tradition

Calculation mode: SIDM_RAMAN

Meaning

Raman is associated with B. V. Raman's sidereal approach. It uses a different offset than Lahiri and can shift sensitive degree, nakshatra, and pada boundaries.

When To Use It

Use Raman when following Raman-style Vedic references or comparing traditional Indian ayanamsa variants.

Sassanian

Persian historical sidereal reference

Meaning

The Sassanian mode is a historical sidereal reference with its zero epoch around March 564 CE. It represents a reconstructed Persian-era convention and is mainly useful for historical comparison.

When To Use It

Use Sassanian when comparing older historical sidereal frameworks against modern standards.

True Chitra

Calculation mode: SIDM_TRUE_CITRA

Meaning

True Chitra is a star-anchored mode that keeps Spica, identified with Chitra, at sidereal longitude 180 degrees, or 0 degrees Libra. Because the star position is recalculated, it is distinct from mean Lahiri.

When To Use It

Use True Chitra for precise star-anchored Chitra/Spica research and boundary comparison.

True Revati

Calculation mode: SIDM_TRUE_REVATI

Meaning

True Revati is a star-anchored mode that places zeta Piscium at sidereal longitude 359 degrees 50 minutes. That reference is deliberately ten arcminutes short of 0 degrees Aries.

When To Use It

Use True Revati when researching Revati-anchored sidereal systems or comparing nakshatra boundary behavior.

Yukteswar

Sri Yukteswar sidereal frame

Calculation mode: SIDM_YUKTESHWAR

Meaning

This calculation implements the ayanamsa associated with Sri Yukteswar. Historical descriptions of the original definition are not completely unambiguous, so treat it as a specific implemented convention rather than a uniquely established ancient value.
